Job Summary
Lead mechanical engineering efforts for capital improvement, maintenance, expansion, and reliability projects across heavy industrial sectors including steel, power generation, refining, and petrochemicals. Develop project scopes, engineering design criteria, and technical solutions while preparing calculations, specifications, and design deliverables for pumps, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and utility equipment. Conduct site assessments, bid walkdowns, and engineering evaluations per ASME, API, NFPA, and PIP standards. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, support construction through RFI responses and commissioning, and mentor junior engineers. Provide trusted technical advisory services to clients and lead design reviews to ensure project quality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience supporting heavy industrial, manufacturing, power generation, steel, petrochemical, refinery, or midstream facilities
- Strong knowledge of Rotating equipment
- Strong knowledge of Pressure vessels
- Strong knowledge of Heat transfer equipment
- Strong knowledge of Fluid systems
- Strong knowledge of Piping systems
- Strong knowledge of Utility systems
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical equipment reliability
- Working knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, and PIP standards
- Experience developing technical specifications, scopes of work, equipment procurement packages, and contractor bid evaluations
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and engineering software tools
Desired Qualifications
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Proficiency with Caesar II stress analysis software
- Experience conducting root cause investigations, reliability studies, and asset integrity assessments
- Multiple state PE registrations or NCEES Record
