Job Summary
Define product layouts and control assemblies using Creo 3D modeling and 2D drafting. Design high-precision mechanical components, sophisticated fixtures, and calibration processes tailored for precision assemblies. Lead comprehensive mechanical design reviews across project gates to ensure structural integrity and Design for Manufacturing/Assembly. Serve as the in-house technical authority on plastic material selection, tooling architecture, and injection molding process optimization. Conduct independent mechanical analysis including tolerance stack-up, FEM/CAE simulations, and physical prototyping to validate design performance. Take initiative in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, particularly regarding plastic component defects and structural failures. Act as the primary Mechanical Engineering representative within cross-functional teams, co-owning Time-To-Market, quality standards, and BOM cost control. Qualify first-article samples from suppliers, participate in pilot production runs, and resolve mass production issues to drive manufacturing KPI improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics Engineering, or Applied Science
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in high-precision mechanical product design
- Proven track record of leading formal mechanical design reviews
- Expert-Level Plastics Knowledge: Deep technical understanding of plastic molding processes, tooling design, plastic material properties, performance optimization, and DFM for precision instruments
- High-Precision Engineering: Demonstrated expertise in precision CAD modeling (Pro-E/Creo), engineering drafting standards, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Analytical Problem Solver: Proven capability in solving tough technical challenges using analytical tools (FEM, MATLAB, FMEA, Tolerance Analysis, DOE)
- Innovative & Solution-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to generate novel design concepts, construct prototypes for proof-of-concept (PoC), and apply new technologies
- Process Knowledge: Familiarity with stage-gate product development cycles and structured project management principles
- Willingness to travel and regularly stay at the Dongguan plant based on project and production needs
Desired Qualifications
- Broad Manufacturing Awareness: Working knowledge of optical components, die casting, metal stamping, and metal fabrication processes
