Job Summary
Resolve production issues and maintain the qualified technical baseline for the F-16 Modular Mission Computer as the Lead Mechanical Engineer. Manage daily tasks, prioritize work, and serve as the primary interface to Program Management, Chief Engineer, and Supply Chain. Apply cost and schedule management methods while mentoring early-career engineers and driving continuous improvement. Perform mechanical analyses, validate design changes through review and test support, and address obsolescence or supplier-driven changes. Evaluate non-conformances and implement design or cost-saving improvements across the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance required after day 1
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- minimum 5 years prior relevant experience
- Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience with electronic product packaging (Circuit Card Assemblies, Printed Wiring Boards, electronics chassis, etc)
- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- working knowledge of model creation, interrogation with CAD tools like PTC Creo (preferred), NX or Solidworks to support mechanical designs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience interfacing with internal and external suppliers
- SOW generation
- experience with RTX Operations/Supply Chain processes
- Proven experience with machined and sheet metal manufacturing methodologies
- Knowledge in design for low cost, manufacturability and small volume packaging
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Familiarity with bid, proposal and earned value methods
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and associated analysis methodologies
- Design experience
