Job Summary
Draft 2D and 3D models, conduct structural analysis, and participate in cost-down efforts to transition designs from prototyping to high-volume production. Design and prototype mechanical and electro-mechanical components optimizing for manufacturability, weight, and cost. Guide vendor engagements, co-develop interface requirements with Cell and Enclosure Design teams, and perform compliance studies. Participate in line bring-up builds by fabricating and testing first-of-a-kind prototypes to validate system design choices. Create system-level functional requirements from product-level specifications. This role supports Form Energy's mission to revolutionize energy storage through iron-air battery manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
- 4 years of post-baccalaureate experience in a mechanical design engineering-related occupation
- 4 years of experience with 3D CAD and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or a similar program
- 4 years of experience with first-principles modeling
- 4 years of experience designing and optimizing models for manufacturing and cost-down
- 4 years of experience with a variety of manufacturing processes, including electronics assembly, sheet metal assembly, and welding
- 2 years of experience with a variety of fabrication techniques, including sheet metal and CNC machining
