Job Summary

Lead design development, integration, and sustainment of critical mechanical systems for military aircraft, including complex modifications, prototype development, and airworthiness substantiation. Investigate, design, develop, and test mechanical and structural components while independently performing structural calculations to support flight clearances and production initiatives. Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, provide technical mentorship on CAD modeling and GD&T, and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of aircraft support equipment. Generate comprehensive technical data packages and engineering drawings adhering to AS9100 and aerospace standards, utilizing PTC Creo and Windchill to drive advancements in additive manufacturing capabilities.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering, specifically in military or aerospace applications
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Mechanical Design (Naval Aviation)
  • Expert-level CAD (PTC Creo/Windchill) experience
  • Extensive experience in estimation, schedule and proposal development
  • Must have Manufacturing/Production experience
  • Working knowledge of aerospace and defense quality standards, including AS9100 QMS
  • Ability to independently perform structural calculations and engineering analyses supporting aircraft modifications and airworthiness approvals
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and can obtain a US Security Clearance to the level of SECRET
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in production optimization
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement
  • Experience designing, modifying, integrating, or qualifying aircraft weapon stores, launchers, suspension equipment, or associated support equipment
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1760 aircraft/store interfaces and weapon system safety certification requirements
  • Experience utilizing AVPLM, IETMS, V-22 repositories, and other Naval Aviation technical data systems
  • Experience utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS, NASTRAN, or equivalent for structural, thermal, or vibration analysis
  • Experience designing components optimized for additive manufacturing for rapid prototyping applications to include fit checks and permanent aircraft installations
