Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer responsible for design, coordination, and oversight of mechanical systems across biogas, bulk solids handling, water and wastewater treatment, pump stations and pipeline conveyance, groundwater remediation, and stormwater recycling within large industrial facilities. Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop calculations, size lines, select materials, and apply codes; generate and review PFDs, P&IDs, process simulations, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings; oversee design deliverables, engage with contractors and third-party engineering teams, and support construction on-site. Drive project scope, budgets, and schedules for mechanical disciplines, perform early design work (conceptual studies, mass/energy balances, equipment sizing), mentor peers, and contribute to EPC/design-build project execution. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, EIT certification, and 10+ years of relevant experience; PE is preferred. Base compensation ranges from $125,000 to $170,000 annually with relocation assistance to Lenexa, KS; standard benefits and full-time employment. The role may be based near Kiewit design locations in Colorado-Lone Tree, Kansas-Lenexa, or Texas-Houston, with consideration for fully remote candidates who meet requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (ABET accredited)
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred or willing to obtain
- Minimum 10 years of industry-related engineering experience in industrial facilities
