Job Summary
Lead design and implementation of major capital projects across the Profile Products Plant Engineering team, focusing on safety, quality, and capacity reliability while meeting timeline and budget commitments. Review, analyze, and improve existing operations and maintenance processes to reduce downtime, maintenance, and parts replacement costs through capital project development. Support the NPD process for manufacturing and supply chain commitments by evaluating and proposing capital improvements, modifications, and upgrades. Research and source new automation and sensing technologies to drive business results, including throughput increases, scrap reduction, and COGS reduction. Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, experience in electro-mechanical process engineering, and hands-on 3D CAD skills. May require more than 40 hours per week.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar
- equivalent combination work experience including machinery development, procurement, production process engineering, and/or project engineering
- Experience in electro-mechanical process engineering
- Experience withcapital equipment optimization and implementation
- Experience sourcingandspecifyingautomation and sensing technologies
- Experience analyzing and diagnosing machine failures
- Experiencescoping, developing, and leading large capital projects across a multi-year horizon
- Working knowledge of industry standards for machinery design for safety and guarding
- Analytical, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Problem solving, system and methods improvement skills
- Hands-on mechanical 3D CAD (Inventor or SolidWorks) software experience
- MS Office suite and ERP/MRP software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise reports that are understandable by the target audience
- Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate them when appropriate
- Abilityto meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment
- Time management skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
- Required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or crawl
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- May require more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position
- The individual possesses fine hand manipulation (keyboarding) skills
- Must be able to adapt to the noise level of a manufacturing setting, which is usually moderate to heavy
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with particulate wood or similar wood-based production (MDF, HDF, Particle Board, Mulch, etc) preferred
