Job Summary

Senior Mechanical Engineer, Hardware responsible for designing and building complex robotic test systems for endoscope and capital medical-device products. Own architecture, mechanical design, assembly, and test of systems; lead design reviews; create and maintain SolidWorks CAD models and fixtures; collaborate across Endoscopy, Systems, and Manufacturing teams; ensure compliance within a regulated FDA-monitored environment. Key skills include mechanical design of electromechanical systems, motor/drive-train selection, rapid prototyping (3D printing to machined parts), tolerancing and analysis (including FEA and thermal), manufacturability, risk analysis, and IP considerations. Location-based role in Burlingame, CA with on-site responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building mechanical mechanisms, interfaces, and structures
  • Ability to document designs and assemblies in a reproducible manner following good documentation practices
  • Experience testing, iterating, and documenting prototype solutions to undefined problems
  • Knowledge of motors, encoders, sensors, power transmission, and drive-train components
  • Experience in electromechanical design
  • Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and basic machining (3D printing, mill/lathe)
  • Demonstrated ability to generate original ideas and solve problems
