Job Summary
Lead the design, technical delivery, and verification of mechanical building services solutions across complex projects in healthcare, education, defence, and infrastructure sectors. Manage multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes, providing technical leadership from concept design through construction and commissioning. Collaborate with electrical, hydraulic, fire, structural, and civil disciplines while supporting project planning, risk management, and commercial performance. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development activities and strategic client engagement. Ensure compliance with New Zealand standards and codes. Participate in construction monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and technical reviews as required. This role supports the delivery of innovative, sustainable engineering solutions that shape the future of the built environment throughout New Zealand.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or ability to obtain CPEng in New Zealand
- Minimum of 10+ years' experience in mechanical building services engineering within a consulting environment
- Proven experience leading the design and delivery of complex building services projects
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC, mechanical services systems and integrated building services design
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong understanding of New Zealand building regulations, standards and compliance requirements
- Excellent client relationship management and business development skills
- Outstanding communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams
- A collaborative mindset, strong commercial awareness and commitment to delivering exceptional client outcomes
- Auckland is preferred, however we're open to candidates in other locations where GHD has an office
