Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer to join Forterra’s Hardware Integration Team, driving integration of the AutoDrive system. Responsibilities include completing mechanical designs within system constraints, hands-on work with vehicle architecture, troubleshooting hardware, creating drawing packages, work instructions, and test procedures; building, testing, and validating designs against system requirements; analyzing designs for DFM and DFA and cost; participating in design reviews and technical discussions; and collaborating with electrical and software teams to satisfy system requirements. The role spans early-stage prototypes to final production and product sustainment, offering exposure to a wide range of mechanical engineering disciplines and opportunities for growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related field
- 4+ years experience in basic mechanical design
- Mechanical design experience (CAD programs such as Autodesk Inventor, Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, etc.)
- Ability to collaborate in team environments

- 4+ years experience in basic mechanical design
- Mechanical design experience with CAD programs (Autodesk Inventor)
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to collaborate in team environments
- Experience with thermal design, analysis, and modeling of electro-mechanical systems
- Manufacturing experience (machining, sheet metal, additive methods)
- Hands-on electrical experience (soldering, cable manufacturing)
- Simulation experience (ANSYS or similar)
- Project management tools experience (Microsoft Project, Jira)
- Leadership in student projects (SAE Baja, Formula, FIRST Robotics)
