Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer for Collins Aerospace Mission Systems leading the design, development, and integration of dynamic electro-mechanical systems and controls (gear boxes, motors, hydraulic pumps). Responsible for mechanical hardware documentation, creation of component control systems, and performing sizing, strength, and dynamic load analyses across the design lifecycle. Conduct prototype build, integration, and testing to validate against customer requirements; participate in peer reviews; mentor team members; collaborate with Electrical, Systems, and Test Engineering within an IPT to manage scope and budget. Role requires U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance. Onsite in Richardson, TX with a comprehensive benefits package.
Required Qualifications
- Typically requires a STEM degree with minimum 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field with minimum 3 years of experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance (DoD)
- U.S. citizenship or eligibility for clearance
- Experience with design and qualification of automotive or larger dynamic machine components and assemblies (motors, gears, pumps)
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX) and relevant standards (RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810)
- Strong analytical skills for sizing, strength, and dynamic load analyses
- Experience with prototype build, integration, and testing; ability to guide peer reviews
- Mentorship and technical guidance to team members
