Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer in Cisco’s Common Hardware Group, based in San Jose, CA, onsite at least 4 days/week. You will design and deliver next-generation mechanical enclosures for hyperscale/data-center networking systems, perform 2D tolerance analysis and 3D tolerance work using CETol, and develop mechanical solutions using sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast components while ensuring EMI, safety, and compliance. Responsibilities include creating 3D CAD models in Creo or NX, generating detailed drawings with GD&T, collaborating with manufacturing and suppliers to mitigate risks, and working with thermal engineers to implement cooling solutions. Strong cross-functional teamwork, communication, and a results-driven approach are essential. Educational requirements include a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (7+ years of relevant experience); a Master’s degree is preferred. The base salary range for US/Canada locations is $152,400.00 to $221,800.00, with additional compensation and benefits as described.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience designing electronic enclosures
- Experience in 3D MCAD tools (Creo/NX)
- Experience designing sheet metal parts
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
