Job Summary
Design the mechanical structure for next-generation data center switches, balancing cooling, EMC, safety, and manufacturability constraints. Implement selected designs using Creo 3D CAD, generating critical drawings, 3D files, and structure bills of materials for prototyping and manufacturing. Manage peer and cross-functional design reviews, schedule ECOs and deviations via Agile tools, and provide thermal simulation models to the ECAD team. Collaborate with suppliers and CMs to address DFM concerns, validate prototypes in the lab, and debug design issues while communicating manufacturing feedback. Some travel to suppliers for troubleshooting is required.
Required Qualifications
- BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
- 7 years' experience
- Ability to lift weight upwards of 50 pounds
- Fluent in English
- Some travel to suppliers to troubleshoot issues or to help expedite a build is required
- Experience in ECO, BOM and Deviation processes
Desired Qualifications
- Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers
- Agile experience
- Experience using ProEngineer (PTC Creo)
- Experience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate)
- Experience with thermal simulation and air flow testing
- Experience with liquid cooling systems
- Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines
- Plastic part design for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses
- Familiarity with PDMLink (PTC Windchill)
- Hands-on experience with tests (shock, vibe, EMC etc.)
