Job Summary
Produce comprehensive technical project plans, specifications, drawings, and models for industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities. Lead the creation and refinement of designs encompassing piping, plumbing, HVAC ducting, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, and process chemicals. Design HVAC systems to maintain precise environmental conditions while collaborating with engineers to perform load calculations and equipment sizing. Apply established design techniques to ensure compliance with company CAD standards and facilitate coordination among electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines. Conduct field verifications and site assessments to resolve design issues during construction and support project managers in managing scope, schedule, and cost through submittal tracking and RFI responses. Mentor junior designers on drafting standards and software tool use.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficiency working with AutoCAD
- Proficiency working with Revit
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields
- Experience with other tools, such as Navisworks, PIPE-FLO, or other similar tools
- Familiarity with HVAC design standards and codes including ASHRAE 62.1, IMC, NFPA 90A, and local building codes relevant to mechanical system design
- Proven ability to coordinate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams including project managers, engineers, architects, and trades to deliver technically accurate and constructible designs
- Demonstrated knowledge or experience with designs that contain HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pump hydraulics, exhaust, process chemicals, wastewater discharge, or other similar mechanical building systems
- Strong communication skills enabling effective collaboration and clear client interaction during design reviews and RFIs
