Job Summary
Lead design efforts for the analysis of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems by utilizing engineering software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards. Perform site assessments, generate technical reports, and provide in-process design reviews while implementing quality control processes to ensure solutions meet industry and client requirements. Interact with clients to gather needs and communicate technical information, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects and other engineers, and provide training and mentoring to resolve field issues. Participate in project interviews and presentations, prioritize safety in all engineering work, and contribute to research and development efforts. Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of experience; 20% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 7 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting industry
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
Desired Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in the building design consulting industry
- Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering
- 11 years of experience minimum in the building design consulting or construction industry
- 12 years of experience in the building design consulting or construction industry
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
