Job Summary
Execute mechanical design and drafting for bulk material handling systems, including conveyor layouts, assembly drawings, and fabrication details. Translate engineering concepts into constructible drawings while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges. Ensure all deliverables comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and internal procedures. Conduct site and shop visits to support design validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution. Incorporate supplier data into designs and review shop drawings for accuracy. Requires 10+ years of experience in industrial sectors like mining or aggregates, proficiency in 2D/3D CAD, and willingness to travel.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field
- 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Designer within industrial sectors such as mining, aggregates, cement, or bulk material handling
- Solid understanding of mechanical components, tolerances, fabrication methods, and erection practices
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar platforms)
- Experience working within multidisciplinary and geographically distributed project teams
- Strong attention to detail with excellent technical and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel to supplier locations, fabrication shops, and project sites as required
Desired Qualifications
- Strong experience with material handling systems, with direct conveyor layout and design expertise strongly preferred
