Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead conceptual, preliminary, and final design of systems and components for stellarator fusion power plants. Responsibilities include translating design requirements into functional stellarator components (vacuum vessels, divertors, plasma-facing components), developing system and component designs and specifications, aligning interface requirements across stellarator subsystems, and developing/validating FEA and CFD models using ANSYS, COMSOL, and other tools. You will also develop procurement packages, resolve technical questions during fabrication, and mentor junior engineers. Requires a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in a relevant engineering discipline, 10+ years of experience, strong leadership and communication skills, expertise in mechanical design principles, lifecycle reliability, cost/schedule/resource planning, and familiarity with CAD/analysis software (Siemens NX highly desirable) and PDM environments. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical or closely related)
- 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering environments
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with design of mechanical systems for complex equipment
- Proficiency with CAD and analysis software (Siemens NX highly desirable)
- Experience with FEA/CFD tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.) and development of procurement packages
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and work in a collaborative environment
- Experience with fusion energy systems or stellarator components is desirable
