Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Martin Audio

Job Summary
Design loudspeaker systems with safety-critical lifting hardware for audience deployment, applying structural load analysis, hand calculations, and FEA tools to validate and optimize components. Manage geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis to ensure precise fitment across welded fabrication, CNC woodworking, sheet metal, and injection moulding processes. Produce fully detailed engineering drawings with inspection dimensioning for manufacturing and quality control while utilizing PLM systems for document management. Mentor team members, assist with drawing validation, and visit suppliers or contract manufacturers to verify production capabilities. Attend concerts and installations to validate product use cases.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or associated discipline
- Previous experience in a mechanical design or product development position
- Ability to problem solve and present solutions based on sound engineering principals
- Proficiency in a professional 3D CAD package such as Solidworks, Creo Parametric, Fusion 360 or similar
- Experience of using a PLM system with regards to document control and change management
- Experience of geometric tolerancing and tolerance stack analysis and how to apply these methods to ensure products fit together as required
- The ability to use hand calculation and FEA tools to analyse structural components to confirm compliance and optimise designs
- Ability to produce Engineering drawings for parts and assemblies, for manufacture and quality control, fully detailed with the required to inspection dimensioning and tolerancing
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to attend concerts or installations
- Must be required to visit suppliers or contract manufacturers
Desired Qualifications
- PTC Creo Parametric (formally Pro/Engineer Wildfire)
- Experience of welding fabrication
- Experience of woodworking (usually CNC)
- Experience of sheet metal design
- Experience of extrusions
- Experience of pressed metal parts
- Experience of diecast and injection moulding
- Ability to provide mentoring to other team members
- Ability to assist with drawing checking and validation
