Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to lead the design, delivery, and coordination of mechanical systems across commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. Responsibilities include leading HVAC, public health, heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water, and above-ground drainage design; producing calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports; detailed design in Revit/AutoCAD; ensuring compliance with UK Building Regulations, CIBSE, and relevant standards; leading design packages across RIBA Stages 1–6; coordinating with electrical, structural, architectural, and sustainability teams; managing timelines and resources; engaging with clients and stakeholders; integrating low-carbon technologies (heat pumps, MVHR, district heating, renewables); supporting sustainability targets (Part L, TM54, TM65, BREEAM); reviewing contractor submissions and technical queries.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered or working toward CEng (CIBSE or IMechE)
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, CIBSE guidance, and industry standards
- Proven experience delivering mechanical designs for commercial offices, residential developments, hotels, retail, or mixed-use schemes
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP)
- Soft skills: Strong communication, client-facing abilities, problem-solving, multi-project management
