Senior Mechanic, Building Maintenance

Job Summary
Coordinate, schedule, and perform routine mechanical maintenance, repairs, and daily set-ups for building support systems, HVAC units, boilers, compressors, and electric forklifts across the Blistex complex. Conduct continuous visual inspections to ensure all functions meet acceptable quality levels, replace high-failure-rate parts, and manage cleaning of building support equipment. Negotiate with outside contractors for optimal service pricing and serve as a liaison for resolving maintenance issues, acting as a limited-capacity back-up to the Group Leader when needed. Use the company vehicle for errands and operate a forklift for moving heavy equipment as required.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate, or equivalent
- Diversified applied trade experience equivalent to 6 years
- 4 to 6 years of experience in an engineering environment
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to use standard shop measuring devices
- Ability to use pipe fitting equipment
- Ability to use electrical wiring equipment
- Ability to use welding equipment
- Ability to negotiate with outside contractors for the best terms to benefit Blistex
- Ability to schedule and coordinate work and workflows of others as work requirements change
- Ability to read and interpret machinery and electrical blueprints/schematics
- Ability to apply set-up and maintenance manual instructions
- Experience in repairing and maintaining HVAC systems
- Experience in repairing and maintaining low-pressure boiler systems
- Experience in repairing and maintaining compressed air systems
- Considerable interpersonal skills
- Good mathematical aptitude (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- Ability to read and write the English language
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to learn and apply accrued knowledge of standard Engineering Department's procedures
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines on a multitude of concurrent tasks
- Valid forklift driver's certification
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned
- Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers
- Ability to function as a team player
- Ability to accept constructive criticism from management
- Ability to comply with Company policies
Desired Qualifications
