Job Summary
Senior Materials Engineer role focusing on developing and testing composite materials (thermosets and thermoplastics) for structural applications; duties include evaluating and selecting materials and manufacturing processes, designing statistically-driven test plans and qualification envelopes, developing specifications and standards for composites, supporting redesigns for cost reductions and scalable manufacturing, leading failure analyses and root-cause investigations, documenting procedures and results, and collaborating with materials, design, manufacturing, and QA teams to ensure compliance and risk mitigation; required to have a strong materials science background, experience with composites processing/characterization, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in materials science, composites engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of composite materials and process engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance as needed
