Job Summary
Senior Marine Systems Engineer responsible for leading marine systems design and engineering tasks across a range of vessels (tug, barge, ferry to large ships). Provide technical leadership as Technical Lead, Technical Assurer, and Project Manager on specified projects, and collaborate with shipyards, owners, Class societies, and OEMs. Ensure compliance with IMO regulations, Class Society rules, and Transport Canada standards; perform heat/cooling load calculations, equipment arrangement, and selection of components (pumps, valves, piping) while considering metallurgical aspects. Maintain CPD and contribute to best-practice development, mentor staff, arbitrate technical content, and stamp/seal professional deliverables within the Quality Management System. Maintain ongoing interactions with Capability Manager to identify SQEP requirements and development opportunities, and support ship surveys for design changes, mid-life upgrades, and vessel documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Marine Systems Engineering
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Marine Systems Engineering
- Existing registration or ability to obtain registration with Professional Engineering governance body in Province of work
- Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
