Job Summary
Manage Marine Liability, Transport, Logistics, and Cargo claims for large blue-chip clients from first notification through resolution, handling lead claims within agreed authority limits. Conduct quantum analysis and legal liability assessments while communicating developments to internal and external stakeholders, including underwriters and brokers. Contribute to best practice procedures, provide technical guidance to junior team members, and support the UK Head of Marine Claims with performance reporting and ad-hoc projects. Attend claims reviews and travel as required to drive continual improvement and mitigate indemnity exposure.
Required Qualifications
- A good level of experience and knowledge in handling: marine liability, third-party cargo or first party cargo claims
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- A working knowledge of legal / regulatory and litigation / procedural requirements for their line of business
- Experience in effectively following up on recommendations from technical claims audits and continuous claim handling improvement
- Lateral thinking and the ability to problem solve and develop new ideas to improve working practices
- Experience handling a wide variety of claims that comes with such as large book
- Experience handling what is predominantly a lead portfolio of claims
- Experience handling claims for our large, blue-chip clients
- Experience handling claims for our well-established London Market portfolio
- Experience handling claims from first notification through policy & legal liability assessment, quantum analysis to timely and accurate resolution
- Experience mitigating indemnity and expense exposure
- Experience communicating developments and outcomes as necessary to all key stakeholders (internal and external)
- Experience providing a high standard of customer service while adhering to claims handling best practices and legal, regulatory and compliance requirements
- Experience acting with speed, composure, compassion and knowledge to solve problems
- Experience being an influencer at AIG, people come to you as a 'go-to' source for help and support because of your deep knowledge and expertise
- Experience driving continual improvement and impacting the way that things get done
- Experience providing technical guidance and coaching to more junior, less experienced members of the global Marine claims handling team
- Experience supporting the UK Head of Marine Claims in claims performance orientated tasks and reporting
- Experience managing the day-to-day operational relationship/quality assurance issues with Shared Services
- Experience supporting the wider team with TPA oversight and performance management
- Experience providing thought leadership through training and presentations to both internal and external audiences
- Experience attending claims reviews and travel, as required
- Experience supporting the more senior adjusters in the team in the handling of larger, more complex claims where required
- Experience establishing and maintaining strong relationships with underwriters and other stakeholders relevant to the business such as clients and brokers
- Experience contributing to maintenance of best practice procedures for Marine claims, consistent with global best practices
- Experience handling Marine claims allocated within agreed level of authority limit
- Experience providing Broad internal and external stakeholder communication where required
- Experience providing Feedback claims trend analysis to the team and internal stakeholders
- Experience handling Marine Liability and/or Logistics
- Experience handling Cargo book of business
- Experience handling Multinational claims offering
- Experience handling claims for our large, blue-chip clients as part of our Multinational claims offering
- Experience handling primarily lead claims for our well-established London Market portfolio
- Experience handling claims for some of the largest and most well-established clients within the Marine industry
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in handling: marine liability, third-party cargo or first party cargo claims (All areas are not essential, but general third-party claims experience is preferred)
- Experience using ECF helpful but not essential
