Job Summary
Senior Manufacturing Process Development Engineer responsible for designing and optimizing manual assembly processes to maximize efficiency and quality in a high-volume, low-mix environment; develop comprehensive manufacturing work instructions and process documentation with clear visual aids; engineer and optimize dispensing operations for adhesives and other materials; provide active lineside production support to address deviations; drive root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions; collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability; implement process improvements to reduce cycle time and defects; develop process parameters with clear control limits; support new product introductions by establishing scalable manufacturing processes; participate in design reviews to optimize for assembly; apply AS9100 standards to drive process development and issue resolution; role based in Santa Ana, CA for 6-month training before transitioning to Ashville, OH, with 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM PT) during the transition.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in manufacturing process development, preferably in a high-reliability industry
- Experience creating detailed work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
- Experience optimizing manual assembly operations and establishing standardized work
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and process improvement
- Experience with dispensing technologies and manual application optimization for adhesives/sealants
- Proficiency with CAD software for assembly documentation and tooling design
- Experience with manufacturing execution systems and digital work instructions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience with AS9100 standards would be advantageous
- DFMA knowledge and SPC/capability studies are preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing and assembly principles
- Experience in defense or aerospace manufacturing environments
