Job Summary
Senior Manufacturing Equipment Engineer responsible for analyzing and optimizing production equipment to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) while ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness. Champion continuous improvement projects to maximize yield, cycle time, and availability; collaborate with process engineering and maintenance to resolve equipment issues; support ramping of newly launched products; develop SCADA systems for real-time production data; perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement robust corrective actions; collaborate with cross-functional teams to rapidly resolve production-related issues; role based in Santa Ana, CA for a 3-month training period before transitioning to Asheville, OH; requires a Bachelor’s in a technical field, 8+ years of manufacturing experience, PLC/HMI/automation expertise, strong robotics knowledge, Lean/Six Sigma experience, and active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically focused on equipment engineering, automation, or reliability
- Demonstrated expertise in programming and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, and industrial automation systems
- Strong understanding of robotics, motion control systems, and mechanical/electrical subsystems in a production setting
- Proven ability to lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) resulting in measurable OEE gains
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Experience with Vision Systems for automated inspection and guidance (preferred)
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for equipment design and layout (preferred)
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) (preferred)
- Prior experience in the defense, aerospace, or med-tech industries (preferred)
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment (required)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to implement effective solutions quickly
