Job Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer develops manufacturing processes from design to CNC programming, reviews customer designs for manufacturability, creates 3D-model-based process definitions, PFMEA, in-process drawings and inspection plans, and CNC code with verification tools. Responsibilities include tooling design, interpreting blueprints with GD&T, applying aerospace/military specifications, training staff on new processes, and driving cost and manufacturability improvements. The role also involves design reviews, process routings, and acting as a technical liaison with customer engineering and quality personnel, with emphasis on applying best/safest practices and advancing manufacturing technology.
Required Qualifications
- Education Required: BS Degree in Mechanical engineering/ Manufacturing Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Experience Required: Minimum of 10 years of industry experience, preferably in aerospace
- Able to read blueprints and have extensive experience applying GD&T to manufacturing operations
- Must be extremely competent in CAD/CAM systems, specifically NX12
- Must have recent programming experience including milling, turning, and in-machine probing
- Must have recent experience machining aluminum, magnesium, and alloy steels
- Must have a solid understanding of metal cutting technology
- Must be computer competent with MS Office, Project, and ERP systems
- Must be familiar with specifications, and requirements for aerospace component manufacturing
- Knowledgeable of aerospace welding, heat treatment, machining, and special processes
