Job Summary

Own robotic and instrument hardware from prototype to repeatable production, driving design-for-manufacture feedback into engineering teams. Develop assembly procedures, test rigs, jigs/fixtures, and acceptance criteria while managing build quality and troubleshooting floor issues. Work with supply chain on components, BOMs, and tolerances, and support system installation and commissioning in the Chemifarm. Manage build quality with contract manufacturers and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Requires 3–5+ years in manufacturing or mechanical/automation engineering with hands-on experience in assembly, DFM/DFA, and fixturing. Based in Glasgow, UK, this senior role offers direct influence on platform hardware design within a Series B deep-tech company accelerating chemical discovery.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in manufacturing, production, or mechanical/automation engineering, ideally for complex electromechanical or robotic hardware
  • Hands-on experience with assembly processes, DFM/DFA, fixturing, test, and QC
  • Comfort reading mechanical drawings and working closely with design engineers
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and rigour around process and documentation
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and quality standards in a workshop/production environment
  • Location: Glasgow, UK (on-site)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience scaling hardware from low volume to higher-volume production
  • Exposure to fluidics, pumps, valves, motion systems, or lab instrumentation
  • Lean / continuous-improvement and supplier-management experience
