Job Summary
Senior Managing Editor, Journals at the American Cancer Society. Oversees peer review, production, supplements, and editorial operations for a high-volume medical journal; manages relationships with contracted editorial services providers; collaborates with the Editor-in-Chief to implement journal strategies and ensure scholarly guidelines are followed; supervises an Assistant Managing Editor and interacts with the Editorial Board and Editors; leads data- and metric-driven decisions via bibliometrics and reports; oversees journal social media, promotion, and marketing efforts; provides operational and budgetary support, trains staff, and participates in sales calls with the publisher; travel to conferences and events as needed; requires a Bachelor's degree and multiple years of leadership and publishing experience, with strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years in a scientific or academic publishing environment
- 5 years peer review management experience
- 4 years of people leader experience
- strong writing and communication skills
- advanced analytic abilities and experience with Excel/PowerPoint
- ability to work with diverse audiences and manage multiple stakeholders
- travel willingness for conferences and events
