Job Summary
Senior Manager, Vector Biology leads a multidisciplinary team focused on viral vector biology, vector design improvements, and assay development to optimize lentiviral vectors for in vivo cell targeting. The role provides technical leadership and strategic direction to advance research and development, identifying target molecules and receptors for efficient vector binding and entry, leveraging cell biology to enhance cell type-specific transduction, and designing/validating robust assays to characterize vector tropism and transduction. Responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration to integrate vector innovations into cell and gene therapy programs, managing budgets and timelines, and fostering innovation and scientific rigor while delivering tangible R&D outcomes for the Cambridge, MA site.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in molecular biology, virology, bioengineering, or a related field
- 6-8+ years of relevant industry experience in cell and gene therapy
- Strong background in viral vector development (lentiviral vectors)
- Experience designing and validating assays for vector tropism, cell binding, internalization, and transduction efficiency
- Demonstrated track record leading multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into actionable strategies
- Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams
