Senior Manager, U.S. Tax Advisory

Job Summary

Develop and manage relationships with U.S. Lines of Business to identify, develop, and implement tax strategies that minimize the U.S. tax burden and support financial and strategic initiatives. Provide timely, thorough U.S. tax advice on current and proposed transactions, products, and the impact of changes in tax legislation. Perform tax research of current and proposed U.S. federal and state income tax laws, and review, prepare, or present formal and informal reports to support tax objectives and decision-making. Oversee and strategically prioritize tax workstreams while modeling and explaining tax impacts of relevant issues, including tax positions and law changes. Collaborate with the Canada Tax Team and external advisors on cross-border projects, and monitor compliance with policies to identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional designation CPA
  • 8 plus years of experience in corporate tax in a large accounting firm, law firm, or large corporation, preferably in an advisory role
  • Masters' Degree in Accounting or Taxation or Juris Doctor
  • Comfort with tax research tools including RIA Checkpoint and Bloomberg Tax
  • Expertise in the MS Office Suite such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Copilot
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools
  • Ability to learn and use other software tools
  • Ability to appropriately and responsibly use AI models to increase efficiency and improve outcomes
  • Good communication skills - written, verbal and presentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters' Degree in Accounting or Taxation or Juris Doctor preferred or equivalent coursework
  • Experience with inbound international structures preferred, but not required
