Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Job Summary

Lead a team of approximately eight software engineers, defining roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives, and delivering incremental business value through modern product development practices. Guide system design and architecture for scalable cloud-based applications while overseeing delivery to ensure quality, reliability, and security. Drive adoption of engineering best practices including agile methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps principles to improve team effectiveness and accelerate delivery. This role requires 7 to 10 years of software engineering experience and 3 to 5 years in people leadership. Compensation ranges from $150,000 to $220,000. The position is remote with occasional travel to client or corporate offices. Ensemble is a leading provider of technology-enabled revenue cycle management solutions for health systems, recognized as a "Best in KLAS" winner and a leader in healthcare financial management.

Required Qualifications

  • 7 to 10 Years People Leadership Experience
  • 7-10 years as a software engineer
  • 3-5 years of experience leading a team of engineers
  • An understanding of engineering fundamentals: testing automation, code reviews, telemetry, iterative delivery and DevOps
  • Experience working with continuous integration & continuous delivery tools, REST API development, serverless architecture, containerization, IaC, public cloud, application observability, GraphQL and/or event driven architecture
  • Experience delivering scalable applications using componentized and distributed architectures
  • Solid foundations in formal architecture, design patterns and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical, globally distributed audiences
  • Experience making recommendations to leadership on technology innovations to increase productivity and effectiveness
  • Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences
  • Must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations as business needs require

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in modern technology stacks, with a demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical environments
  • While our teams primarily leverage Microsoft technologies, we welcome candidates from diverse technical backgrounds who are excited to expand their skillset
  • Exposure to AI-enabled development tools, code generation models, or ML-driven insights (e.g., Copilot, embedding models, vector search)
