Job Summary
Architect and implement security solutions for Gemini's cloud-native platform, writing Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC code while reviewing PRs and prototyping alongside engineers. Lead the Platform Security team by aligning strategy with business needs, establishing a roadmap for maturity, and reducing toil through automation. Serve as the technical escalation point for complex architecture problems, manage third-party vendor decisions, and develop security policies that satisfy GRC and audit requirements. Mentor engineers through pairing and design reviews, foster trust-centric relationships with partner teams, and define self-service processes to minimize friction. Drive program KPIs to measure success against business goals while maintaining a customer-first approach to security engineering.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of leadership experience for cloud-native engineering and/or security teams
- 10+ years of direct, technical experience in relevant roles (e.g., Platform Engineering, Security)
- continued hands-on coding/IaC work within the last 2-3 years
- Strong experience in AWS, EKS (Kubernetes), IAM, Terraform, GitHub Enterprise Cloud
- Experience leveraging industry security frameworks & standards that act as the basis of maturing the overall security program and enable successful business outcomes
- Comfortable with hiring & scaling a team
- Prior success in leading a team through organizational change management
- strong preference for start-up experience in a technology-centric business
- Able to easily communicate with technical stakeholders at their level
