Job Summary
Senior Manager, Genetic Disease Patient Advocacy responsible for supporting strategy and execution of patient advocacy across Relay Therapeutics’ genetic disease portfolio. Lead development and implementation of initiatives to connect with patient communities, facilitate engagements with advocacy groups, lead corporate and external communications, support presence at patient events, develop patient-facing educational materials, manage approvals for materials, contracts, and grants, collaborate with Legal/Regulatory/Clinical/Medical Affairs/Finance, champion patient perspectives in internal decisions, and oversee day-to-day operations of the genetic disease patient advocacy function. Travel to meet with patient advocates and represent Relay at conferences.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with patient advocacy groups and/or professional (medical) associations, including 3+ years in the genetic and/or rare disease community
- Experience working for biotech/pharma companies as a liaison with patient advocacy groups and/or professional associations
- Demonstrated experience establishing, building and maintaining relationships with patients and patient advocacy organizations
- Experience in genetic/rare disease therapeutic area and understanding of the unique needs of the rare disease patient community
- Knowledge of compliance, legal, regulatory, and other issues that impact the biopharmaceutical industry and patient engagement and advocacy practices
- Experience creating patient-facing material and managing the approval process
- Comfort with explaining complex scientific concepts in a simplified, compelling way to a non-medical audience
- Ability to work successfully in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, managing projects involving multiple functions and shared accountabilities
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors
- Travel, as required, to meet with patient advocates and represent Relay Therapeutics at relevant events and conferences.
