Job Summary
Manage a collaborative team solving challenging problems in high voltage electric transmission line design for capital and maintenance projects ranging from 34.5 kV to 765 kV. Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, and NEC standards to perform engineering analyses, prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, and construction documents. Independently develop an engineering team with direct report responsibilities while handling client relations, proposal development, and project management. Integrate AI, automation, and digital design platforms to streamline grid modernization and increase design efficiency. Convey clear expectations, goals, and vision to direct reports, managing performance and mentoring skilled professionals. Resolve collaboration conflicts to achieve successful results while identifying risks and opportunities through project performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, preferred, or Mechanical Engineering
- twelve plus (12+) years of relevant experience in the design of high voltage electric utility transmission systems
- Professional Engineering Registration in at least one U.S. state or equivalent
- Experience with PLS-CADD
- Experience with POLE
- Experience with TOWER
- Experience with SAG10
- Experience with LPILE and/or FAD
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
- Work effectively in a team environment
- can also work independently
- Working onsite in a Leidos or client office is a possibility
- some periodic travel may be required
Desired Qualifications
- Five plus (5+) years of supervising staff
- M.S. degree in Structural Engineering
- Track record of outstanding communication to serve as primary point of contact for existing and perspective clients
- Business acumen with a record of understanding and meeting key project performance metrics
- Ability and passion to develop staff through mentoring
