Senior Manager of Product, Imagery

Job Summary

Define and drive product strategy for Planet's imagery portfolio across four product lines: Monitoring, High-Resolution, Tanager, and Mosaics/Analysis-Ready Data. Make strategic tradeoff decisions connecting imagery strategy to business goals and OKRs while influencing cross-org strategy with Platform, Solutions, and Constellation Services teams. Lead imagery product planning cycles, partner with Engineering, GTM, and Space Systems to deliver results, and manage a team of four Product Managers through hiring, coaching, and performance management. Establish clear success metrics, improve development processes, and foster a culture of customer obsession by driving discovery and validation practices. This full-time hybrid role requires three days per week in the San Francisco office.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years in product management experience
  • 4+ years managing and developing Product Managers
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Track record of setting product strategy for a multi-product portfolio
  • Ability to influence product strategy across teams and organizations
  • Track record of delivering measurable customer and business impact
  • Effective prioritization skills
  • Experience with satellite imagery, remote sensing, or geospatial products
  • Understanding of how to position and differentiate products in competitive markets
  • Ability to lead through influence, not just authority
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, GTM, and other functions to drive outcomes
  • Effective communication skills
  • Track record of developing high-performing Product Managers
  • Experience hiring, onboarding, and coaching PMs
  • Commitment to building diverse, inclusive teams and culture
  • Must be able to access all applicable export-controlled information without additional export licensing being required by the Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • Must be available for San Francisco office 3 days per week

  • Power user of satellite imagery
  • Background in markets Planet serves (government, defense, agriculture, energy, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data products, APIs, and platform businesses
  • Experience in dynamic, mission-driven organizations
  • Systems thinking and ability to see connections across complex products
