Job Summary
Senior Manager of OPU Product Board Design accountable for end-to-end PCB development and integration of silicon photonics-based OPU boards. Lead architecture, schematic capture, layout reviews, bring-up, and production release across hardware domains including host interface carrier boards, silicon photonic IC interposers, metasurface/SLM driver boards, and evaluation platforms. Drive board-level integration of laser drivers, TIAs, and high-speed DAC/ADC interfaces, collaborating with optical, mechanical, ASIC, firmware, and test teams to meet signal integrity, power delivery, thermal, and optical-drive requirements. Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of board design engineers; define roadmaps and resource allocation; manage external fabricators and component suppliers; communicate program status and risks to leadership. Preference for candidates with metasurface/SLM drive electronics, silicon photonics packaging, thermal management for high-density optics/electronics, NPI/DFM/DFT experience, and AI/ML hardware or photonic IC product background.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline
- 10+ years of hands-on PCB and hardware engineering experience
- at least 3 years in a people management or technical lead role
- deep expertise in high-speed digital PCB design (stack-up optimization, differential pair routing, impedance control, PDN design) for SerDes rates 25G and above (PCIe Gen4/5, 56G/112G)
- hands-on experience with optoelectronic board design (laser driver ICs, TIAs, high-speed DAC/ADC interfaces, silicon photonics IC integration at board level)
- proficiency with EDA tools (Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Altium, or equivalent) and SI/PI simulation tools (HyperLynx, Sigrity, or equivalent)
- track record bringing complex multi-layer boards (16L+) from schematic to volume production
- strong background in power delivery design for high-power ASIC/SoC/photonic IC loads (multi-phase VRM, EMI mitigation)
- ability to hire, develop, and retain specialized engineering talent
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
