Job Summary
Lead the cross-functional opening team in Japan & Micronesia for all activities related to opening, conversion and reopening of IHG hotels and resorts. Act as the consultative lead to influence owners and senior leaders to ensure on-brand, on-time, and on-budget openings, and manage the ramp-up to profitability post-opening. Oversee opening of a portfolio of Franchised and Managed IHG hotels, maintain relationships with Owners, Developers, Consultants, design/engineering, pre-opening and Operations teams, ensure quality and operational standards at opening, and execute commercial ramp-up plans for strong initial revenue and guest experience. Direct all pre-opening activities as a senior project manager, set opening dates with owners in collaboration with Growth leadership, ensure GM and hotel teams receive opening training, conduct site visits and pre-opening inspections, ensure legal/safety/brand/commercial standards at opening, perform post-opening reviews, and drive continuous improvement including IHG systems usage. The role may lead toward a General Manager path in the future.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years hospitality industry experience or equivalent
- 2-4 years hotel operations experience with specific openings experience preferred
- Ability to manage cross-functional/matrix teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder influence
- Business-level Japanese and English (reading/writing/speaking)
- Office suite proficiency
- PMS and GRS (preferred)
- IHG systems knowledge (advantage)
