Job Summary
Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering needed to lead manufacturing engineering efforts across multiple space programs, overseeing teams to fabricate, assemble, integrate and test high-reliability space components and systems. Responsible for design-for-manufacturability/assembly, manufacturing readiness and test readiness reviews, developing robust production processes for complex space hardware, and ensuring adherence to stringent space-grade quality standards. Focus areas include coordination with design, supply chain, program management and operations; driving manufacturing strategy for the space program; experience with CAD, MES, and ERP/MRP systems; significant travel; active security clearance or ability to obtain one; and leadership in a high-precision, aerospace environment.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in a technical field preferred such as engineering, math, or a hard science
- 8+ years of experience in space and satellite manufacturing, systems engineering, or design of electromechanical hardware
- Experience in unit-level/space vehicle/system integration, assembly, and environmental testing (eg., vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic, shock, and EMI/EMC)
- Background in integration and testing of avionics/optical payloads, solar, propulsion, ADCS, or other space hardware
- Proven team leadership skills with examples of managing and developing a diverse team
- Experience physically manufacturing hardware through machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.
- CAD software familiarity, Manufacturing Execution systems, and ERP/MRP systems
- Willingness to travel frequently (>25%) to support global manufacturing operations
- Active security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance
- Knowledge of tests and quality assurance processes in space hardware
- Ability to understand new concepts quickly and coordinate work phases
