Job Summary
Senior Manager, Life Sciences to support and accelerate growth of high-potential biopharma startups in the MaRS portfolio. Responsibilities include sourcing and engaging startups, building relationships with founders and executive teams, enabling investor readiness and business development, facilitating introductions to investors, pharma partners, CROs, and strategic partners, designing programs/workshops/events for early-stage life sciences startups, developing a national/global investor and partner network, contributing to thought leadership and ecosystem reporting, and representing MaRS at conferences and partnering events. Requires an advanced academic background and 6+ years in biotech/venture-capital/startup operations or related fields, with strong relationship-building, organizational, and communication skills. Applicants must reside in Ontario and work from the Toronto office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced academic background (MSc, PhD, MBA, or comparable professional experience)
- 6+ years of experience in biotechnology, venture capital, startup operations, consulting, business development, translational research, or innovation ecosystem development
- Strong understanding of biotech company formation, fundraising, and drug development
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with founders, investors, and industry stakeholders
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Location: legally eligible to work in Canada, reside in Ontario, and willing to work from the Toronto office at least 3 days per week
