Job Summary
Lead and mentor lab operations staff while building and operating a functional genomics lab, working directly with scientists and engineers to design, build, and scale infrastructure. Own procurement strategy, manage inventory, and develop scalable operational processes and SOPs to support growth. Identify operational bottlenecks and drive cross-functional solutions to fix them, serving as the primary escalation point for equipment and vendor contracts. Ensure laboratory safety, chemical hygiene, and compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines. Manage the lab operations budget and cultivate relationships with vendors across the biomedical research industry.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in a cell biology, molecular biology, genomics or similar laboratory setting
- experience managing people and programs
- Demonstrated experience managing vendor contracts
- Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to identify inefficient processes at scale and lead the organizational change needed to fix them
- Experience with procurement & purchasing systems
- Experience with inventory and sample management systems
- Experience with environmental health & safety
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in or running a vivarium
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets and team priorities
- Hands-on research experience in cell or molecular biology
