Job Summary
Senior Manager of Internal Communications who will design and execute enterprise internal communications strategies connecting team members across Alterra Mountain Company’s mountains, offices, and communities. Lead development of clear, authentic messaging and governance for multi-channel programs (intranet, newsletters, leadership communications, video content, campaigns) and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership. Responsibilities include shaping the internal communications ecosystem, partnering with executives to translate priorities into compelling messages, ensuring transparency and alignment, and driving engagement across distributed teams. The role emphasizes storytelling, cross-functional collaboration, managing events and communications for major initiatives, and optimizing platforms and analytics to strengthen employee belonging. This position requires strong writing, editing, and multi-format content creation skills, experience with governance frameworks, and a track record of delivering integrated communications in multi-location organizations. The Denver-based role is supported by a hybrid work policy and reports to the Vice President of Communications.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or related roles, with a demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide communication strategies
- Demonstrated experience advising varied leadership and employee teams, including developing and managing messaging and organization-wide announcements
- Proven experience working within complex, multi-location organizations, ideally supporting both corporate and frontline or operational workforces
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale communications for major initiatives, organizational changes, and cultural programs in a dynamic environment
- Experience working with and developing communication platforms, standards, frameworks, and governance practices across distributed teams or multi-location organizations
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with experience developing content across multiple formats and communication channels
- Experience managing internal communication platforms and tools such as intranets, newsletters, and team member engagement systems, plus analytics and reporting
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, managing multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
- Experience in hospitality, outdoor recreation, lifestyle brands, or multi-site consumer-facing organizations is a plus
- Professional/lived experience working in a culturally competent manner with a broad range of people
- EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is a plus
