Job Summary

Senior Manager, External Communications (Business) is a six-month temporary, hybrid role based in The New York Times’ NYC headquarters. You will lead external communications for business-side departments, develop and implement PR plans for business projects and product launches, manage an external PR firm, mentor junior staff, write press materials, and coordinate with Technology, Growth, Product, Advertising, Marketing, legal, and IR teams. Responsibilities include creating and executing communications plans, preparing executives for external opportunities, crisis response planning, monitoring outcomes, pitching trade and consumer stories, and supporting earnings communications and thought leadership opportunities. The role requires 8+ years in communications, strong media relations, cross-functional collaboration, and project-management experience. You will typically work in-office 3 days per week as part of a hybrid arrangement in New York City.
