Job Summary
Own the energy strategy and serve as the authoritative voice for a regional U.S. project portfolio, setting direction for utilities, regulators, and grid operators. Lead contract development and negotiation for utility service agreements, interconnection deals, and power purchase agreements while managing a bench of specialized consultants and contractors. Drive power capacity delivery from site evaluation through energization, overseeing interconnection applications, permitting, and construction oversight to maintain schedule accountability. Navigate ambiguous regulatory processes independently, manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure, and provide cost inputs to support go/no-go decisions. Operate as an individual contributor with 40-50% travel, based in Texas, particularly the Austin area.
Required Qualifications
- 7–12 years of professional experience in the energy sector
- direct experience negotiating and executing energy contracts
- managing utility relationships in the assigned region
- Demonstrated track record of leading utility interconnection processes
- leading large-load service applications
- energy contract development for critical infrastructure or large commercial loads
- Experience managing or directing third-party consultants, advisors, or contractors in a project delivery context
- 2+ years of experience working within a hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale data center development environment
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Management, Business, or a field directly applicable to energy infrastructure or data center development
- Travel of up to 40–50% at peak
- Adaptability to the demand driven by ECX's growth
Desired Qualifications
- Deep working knowledge of the utility and grid operator landscape relevant to the assigned portfolio
- familiarity with ERCOT and the Texas utility environment
- Strong existing relationships with grid managers, utility staff, and/or regulatory personnel in the target region
- Candidates with experience spanning both utility-side and large-load customer-side energy work
