Job Summary
Senior Manager / Director of Construction for Zipline Ground Systems: lead and grow the construction function responsible for delivering charging sites and related ground infrastructure across active and future markets. Hire and mentor construction managers; define construction strategy for use of general contractors, self-perform, and trade partners; own outcomes across schedule, cost, safety, quality, and risk; source and manage relationships with contractors; collaborate with Finance, Legal, Procurement, Design Execution, Project Engineering, Launch, Service Operations, Real Estate, and Field Operations; build scalable processes for project controls, reporting cadence, and escalation; spend time in the field to supervise execution and drive closure on issues. What you'll bring includes extensive experience in physical infrastructure construction, managing construction teams, knowledge of delivery models (design-bid-build, design-build, self-perform), and a track record of building or improving construction functions, plus strong commercial judgment and safety leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience leading construction for physical infrastructure or capital projects
- Experience managing construction managers or project teams
- Strong understanding of construction delivery models
- Track record of building or improving a construction function
- Experience sourcing, evaluating, negotiating with general contractors or trade partners
- Strong commercial and operational judgment on budgets, forecasts, contracts, change orders
- Ability to collaborate withFinance, Legal, Procurement, Design, Engineering, Launch, and Operations
- Practical safety leadership and high expectations for field execution quality
- Ability to create scalable processes for reporting, controls, and handoffs
- Willingness to spend time in the field and lead through constraints
