Job Summary
Senior Manager – Core Design leads the development and integration of reactor core design solutions, overseeing a large multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated design, physics analysis, and system-level optimisation with robust verification/validation, governance forums, and regulatory compliance. You will define requirements, drive programme plans and delivery schedules, manage external contracts, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and coach high-performing teams while shaping technical direction and licensable design. A degree in engineering with Chartered Engineer status is required, along with a proven track record in nuclear/core design, system integration, and leadership in regulated environments. UK regulatory familiarity (safety case development, BPSS/DBS screening) and strong communication/stakeholder-influencing skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
- Experience leading large engineering teams (10–30+ people)
- Strong background in nuclear design, reactor core design, physics analysis or similar
- Knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks and safety case development (ALARP, BAT)
- Experience managing external partners and technical delivery contracts
- Systems engineering awareness, including requirements management and integration
- Stakeholder influencing and communication skills
