Senior Manager, CapEx Projects

Job Summary

Lead the capital project portfolio for all current and future capital and expense projects at the Celanese Bishop, Texas Site, managing ~$30M annually across two business lines. Coordinate multi-disciplinary team activities to execute over 100 active projects while maintaining acceptable quality levels without compromising safety and reliability. Develop the annual capital project plan, manage the site 5-year capital forecast, and gate-keep project ideas by reviewing plans and economics for justification. Track expenditures against policies, support unit outages and turnarounds, and administer project metrics and reports. Manage resident support contractors, lead contracting strategy, and ensure efficient resource staffing for design and field execution. Provide project updates to senior leadership and maintain clear role definitions and performance standards for direct reports.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year bachelor's technical degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical engineering or other technical)
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • 5+ years of team leadership and management experience
  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment – chemicals or petro-chemicals
  • High degree of knowledge/understanding of project-related functions (Engineering, Design, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction)
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting, cost controls and purchasing as it relates to project expenditures
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and drive projects to completion
  • Proactive leadership and team-building skills with the ability to work effectively throughout the organization
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all organization levels through written and verbal communications
  • Ability to understand project scheduling and cost control, and to read and understand project specifications and engineering drawings
  • Ability to understand how to influence business objectives within department and across site and others
  • Strong sense of ownership and a drive to achieve results
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem solve
  • The confidence to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven credibility with key business and functional leaders

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is advantageous
  • Professional Project Management certification an advantage
  • Working knowledge of OneSAP and Project Systems module
  • Six Sigma certification
