Job Summary
Senior Manager/Lead Engineer responsible for defining and executing the safety strategy for autonomous vehicle development in simulation, closed courses, and public roads. Lead a team of Safety Engineers; develop and maintain the safety case per UL4600 and ISO26262; establish testing/validation strategies across behavior components and operational design domains; collaborate with software, data science, and systems engineering to safely train ML models; set safety launch targets (SPI) across vehicle behaviors; create and maintain the safety assurance plan; mentor the team and communicate technical safety requirements to stakeholders; ensure audits and assessments are completed; drive alignment with industry standards (ISO 8800, ISO 24118) and AV safety best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
- 10+ years of engineering or autonomous vehicle development experience
- Demonstrated safety case management experience (ISO26262/UL4600) or related safety leadership experience
- Experience leading cross-functional safety teams (safety engineers, software, data science, systems engineering)
- Strong understanding of ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), UL 4600
- Experience with safety integration of ML/AI into autonomous systems
- Proven ability to define safety requirements, goals, and verification/validation strategies
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills
