Job Summary
Lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers in developing reusable space vehicles by creating and maintaining strategic manufacturing plans, balancing workflow priorities, and managing Work Order Authoring. Direct team members through mentoring, career path development, and recruitment to ensure staffing needs are met. Coordinate with program managers and product leads to align design, build, and test objectives, while promoting DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between engineering disciplines. Operate hands-on with design, analysis, and equipment troubleshooting to support fabrication processes, create data gathering tools for performance tracking, and maintain Manufacturing Bills of Material. Ensure compliance with companywide processes and prepare hardware for test, qualification, and flight. This First Shift role supports Blue Origin's mission to develop safe, low-cost space systems within a culture of safety and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
- Experience managing people, projects, or programs
- Strong coordination, personnel, and project management skills
- Experience in hardware manufacturing (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software)
- Proven experience and successful track record of developing new manufacturing processes and continuously improving existing processes
- Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
- Understanding of entire product lifecycle management
- 7+ years of direct manufacturing and/or manufacturing engineering experience
- Proficiency in engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing
- Ability to execute effective written and verbal communication at all levels of the organization, including C-Suite leaders

- Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
- Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
- Familiarity with FAA CFR's, industry methodologies, OSHA requirements
- Experience developing, writing, and updating operating procedures
- Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, MSG-3, 5-S, FMEA, PRA, and lean process awareness
- Certification and/or training in various human factor / human performance skills
- Experience in new, startup, or ambiguous operational environments
- Proficiency in business and engineering software (i.e. MSOffice, Windchill, PLM, etc)
- Experience with critical operations where real-time decision-making affects success
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven track record driving sophisticated projects with minimal guidance
