Job Summary
Senior Manager, Accounting Team Lead responsible for leading a remote client-facing professional services team delivering high-quality accounting leadership and support to startups and VC-backed companies; focus on coaching Client Leads, ensuring delivery quality, managing team capacity, and upholding firm standards. Role emphasizes remote leadership, client management, and cross-functional coordination, with core duties including coaching on solution design and client management, reviewing engagement approaches for risk, serving as escalation point for delivery challenges, ensuring work meets quality standards, conducting formal performance reviews, driving resource balance, maintaining a limited personal client book to stay technically current, cross-team collaboration, and maintaining executive presence in client-facing situations. Core qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA, 7–10 years of accounting experience with leadership experience, strong GAAP knowledge (including SAFEs, convertible instruments, ASC 606, equity compensation), proficiency with QuickBooks Online and ideally NetSuite or Sage Intacct, and preference for experience in remote professional services and startup accounting environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- CPA required
- 7–10 years of accounting experience including at least 2 years in a client lead, manager, or team leadership role
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred
- Deep working knowledge of GAAP with startup-specific accounting complexity (SAFEs, convertible instruments, ASC 606, equity compensation)
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team and a client portfolio simultaneously
- Strong coaching and feedback skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with QuickBooks Online; NetSuite, Sage Intacct or similar platforms preferred
- Experience working in a remote professional services environment strongly preferred
