Job Summary

Coordinate and perform high-level mechanical, electrical, thermal, and fluid power maintenance on specialized production equipment within a rubber molding manufacturing facility. Troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair multi-stage high-pressure hydraulic molding presses, accumulators, cylinders, and proportional pumps while diagnosing automated machinery inputs/outputs, variable frequency drives, and PLC-controlled systems up to 480V. Lead major machinery overhauls, safely execute heavy rigging to relocate equipment, and execute, document, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs using a Computerized Maintenance Management System. Mentor junior technicians, assign daily work orders, and lead emergency troubleshooting during active production breakdowns while adhering to Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety procedures. Requires minimum of 5 years of industrial plant maintenance experience with 2 years in rubber molding environments. Day shift, 4:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial plant maintenance experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a rubber molding, plastic injection molding, or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic layouts
  • Verified Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training
  • Proficiency using digital multimeters, insulation testers, hydraulic pressure gauges, precision micrometers, welding equipment, and heavy rigging tools
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and PLC troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
  • Ability to mentor and train junior maintenance technicians
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Routinely lift, carry, and manipulate materials weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Climb ladders, work at heights, crawl into confined spaces, and stand or walk on concrete floors for 8–12-hour shifts
  • Work around elevated temperatures, steam systems, chemical odors, and high-noise manufacturing environments while wearing required PPE
  • This position will be based at our Chicago, IL facility with no anticipated travel. This is a fully site-based position.

Desired Qualifications

  • Technical trade school degree, vocational certification, or formal mechanical/electrical apprenticeship preferred
  • Forklift, aerial lift, and overhead crane certifications are preferred
